POPPY PORTER

I am inspired to create light, colourful and structural jewellery by the speed, beauty and precision design of Formula 1 cars and the opulence of Tudor and Stuart Lace cuffs and the colour and layering of Japanese kimono.

My current Suzuka Chrysanthemum and Kaleidos collections consist of striking statement pieces that are surprisingly light even though they are large. Designed to make the wearer feel fantastic they are versatile pieces that work well with any classic outfit.

I use my own photography in an inlay/lacquering technique that I have developed to use in conjunction with anodised (electrically coloured) titanium; a very light but very strong metal often used in high performance vehicles. I also use objects out of context, pearls and traditional jewellery techniques using precious metals and pearl knotting.

I trained as a three-dimensional designer after leaving a career in law to follow my creative impetus. I live and work in the UK where I not only specialise in contemporary jewellery but also digital art.
