JACOBS DESIGN

For Barry Jacobs and his team of extraordinary jewellery makers, what matters is their client's reaction when they see jewellery - what their clients imagination prompts them to see. That's because Jacobs Jewellery Design is about making imagination come to life. The small, family-run business and its team of highly skilled craftsmen approach each task with a blank sheet of paper and 100 years of experience between them.

Planning: Everything Jacobs Jewellery does is crafted in the traditional manner, using the finest raw materials; the metal the craftsmen tease into daring mounts and astonishing detail is always either 18 - carat gold (white, yellow or rose) or platinum; stones are sourced from the world's most renowned gemstone markets in New York, Antwerp and Mumbai, and are always conflict free.

Once the raw materials are in place, everything about the piece of jewellery is designed and created entirely in-house. Barry Jacobs will visit clients or welcome them to the workshop to discuss the piece they wish to create. He works with in-house watercolour painters and artists to prepare design mock-ups for clients to review, amend and approve. ‘Only when every "I" has been dotted and every "t" has been crossed, and the client is entirely comfortable that the design really reflects what they had in mind, will work begin', explains Barry.

Individualistic: Jacobs Jewellery not only creates lasting pieces of beauty, it provides an experience - a journey - that is cherished as much as the work it produces. Because if the experience of the jewellers and the fact that every element of a Jacobs Jewellery creation is completed in-house, the company has carved out a reputation among fellow professionals for being able to make complex pieces of great distinction and beauty.

Discreet: Jacobs Jewellery is not a household name. Its jewels do not appear on the must-have pages of Vogue, Harper's Bazaar or Tatler. With a discreet approach, everything the company does is for the client alone. The result is that Jacobs Jewellery has achieved a fiercely loyal following, all of whom come to the company from word-of-mouth recommendation.

Barry Jacobs would not have it any other way; ‘Our job is to provide a service that is absolutely second to none and produces a piece that the client knows is unique because it has come from them', says Barry.

Whether the work is sculptural or wearable, imposing or microscopic, Jacobs Jewellery ensures the client is at the centre of every stage of the creation. Service, quality, experience and discretion are watchwords that have stood the company in good stead since its foundation in 1957. They still are the qualities by which the company still stands by today.
